I was recently talking to a friend of mine. She is Christian and wants to raise her children to be Christian also. She sees it as her duty. She is “accountable to god” for her children, as she said. I have a few things to say about this. First, as an atheist, I don’t force other people to see the world the way I do. I encourage them to, but if someone insists on believing in a god, so be it.

There are a lot of people on both sides of the religious debate that do not know what agnosticism really is. I remember being told, when I was a child, that atheism was more respectable than agnosticism because at least atheists “take a stand’. The reality, as pointed out by magician, atheist, and all around smart person Penn Jillette, is that atheism and agnosticism answer two different questions.

As many of you know, Pope Benedict XVI has announced that he is quitting his divinely ordained job. When asked why, he stated he wanted to spend more time at home with the kids. *badumptss*

The great Bill Hicks asked, “You ever notice how people who believe in creationism, look really unevolved?” While this is funny, there is a certain truth to it. I have often said that the religious are a previous chain in our evolution. Our brains have evolved beyond superstition. Their’s haven’t. They just haven’t died out yet.

On the Twitternet, I’m amazed by how many Christians are not just angry, but FURIOUS that atheists celebrate Christmas. They think that Christmas is the celebration of Jesus’ birth, and that as such, non believers shouldn’t be allowed to celebrate on the same day. Let’s break this down, shall we?

Ok everyone. Hold on to your seats, because I’m going to yell. This is Tyler Alred. Tyler is 17. When Tyler was 16, he was drinking and drove. He crashed his truck and ejected his friend, who died on the spot. It is a very tragic, and far too common tale. What makes this different, is when the Judge, Mike Norman, sentenced Tyler to Church.

I recently noticed another trait about Christians that I can’t stand. Well, not all Christians. Just American Christians. They seem to have this irrational belief that they are being attacked. Here’s the truth. There are very few people, like me, who want to eradicate religious people. Most non-believers see Christians kind of like the harmless town homeless. We just listen to their stories of a war they were never in, roll our eyes, and go on our way without giving it a second thought. Only a small handful are militant atheists who want to remove you from the planet.
