Phil Robertson: Everything Wrong With Religion in a Nut(job)shell
NOTE: This is my longest rant. So far. And I’ve been doing this site for five years. Just wanted to warn you. – Chris Last time Phil Robertson, host of Duck Dynasty, said something stupid, I didn’t say much. I might have said something on Facebook along the lines of “He’s a dude who looks like he’s in ZZ Top, what do you expect?” A lot of people agreed with me. I support freedom of speech, and think it even includes bigots. As Bill Maher said, when Hank Williams Jr. said something stupid, “Hank Williams Junior can say some ignorant shit on Fox News without the good people demanding he…

Chapel Hill: Violence, Parking, and Religion
If you’ve paid attention to the news in the last few days, you’ve no doubt heard of the murder of three people in one of the Carolinas. For the rest of you, I’ll catch you up. On Tuesday, February 10th, Craig Stephen Hicks (because of course his last name is Hicks) allegedly shot three students in the head, execution style. While the motive is as of yet unknown, the fact that the three victims were Muslim, and Mr. Hicks’ online posts declaring his hatred of religion, has sparked the possibility that this was an anti-religious shooting.

Voluntary Sterilization
I just finished reading an article titled, “Why Can’t I Get Sterilised In My 20s?” Wait. Shouldn’t it be “steriliZed”? Anyway. It reminded me of the frustration I faced when I tried to get a vasectomy. While most of this rant will be about my story, I did want to address a few things I found in Ms. Brockwell’s article.

Bad Arguments: The Bible is the Word of God
While Pascal’s Wager is the most idiotic argument, and Personal Incredulity is the most pervasive, this is the most frustrating to me. It’s frustrating to me, because most of the people who use it, (the Christians who were raised to believe the Bible is the Word of God) are incapable of understanding why I question it. Because they never did.

Celebrity Nude Leaks / Victim Blaming
I didn’t have enough material for a rant, so I picked a few related topics, and am combining them. Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably heard of The Fappening and/or The Snappening, where a ton of celebrity iCloud accounts and a ton of SnapChat files were hacked. Most healthy people would decry this as the invasion of privacy that it is. Oddly, there are a surprisingly high number of people who blame the victims.

Reclaiming “Islamophobia”
Islamophobia is a buzzword that has been around since the 1920s, but has recently become a common term used to decry any criticism of Islam. The suffix “phobia” means “fear”. Am I afraid of Islam?

Comedy / Offense
A few days ago, I made a joke on Facebook. One of my friends had some complaints, including that it was insensitive. Since I haven’t added a rant on here in over a month, I thought I’d talk about my point of view on the matter. First off, here’s the joke.

Holly Fisher is a Derpy Deluded Dipshit
As of 10 minutes ago, I had no clue who Ms. Fisher was. Then I read this article. What I saw was so infuriating, that I had to rant about it. Here’s the story from what I can gather. Holly Fisher is a “real ‘murican”. Shortly after the Supreme Court issued their flood gate opening ruling that allowed companies with strongly held beliefs (not sure how a company can have beliefs, but whatever), Ms. Fisher took a photo wearing a pro life shirt, holding a Chik-fil-A cup, in front of a Hobby Lobby. Basically a big ball of bigoted yarn.

Intro to Religion
With ISIS and the ongoing fighting in the Middle East, I thought it would be interesting to explore the religious side of the topic. There are many contributing factors, so I’m not saying religion is the only cause, but it is part of it. Let’s start with some basics.

Double Standards / Bad Boys
By now, I’m sure you’ve seen this guy. For the two of you who don’t have the internet, this is Jeremy Meeks. He was recently arrested in Stockton, CA, for possessing a firearm, as well a other gun and gang related charges. He also has a history of criminal behavior and has spent 71 days after being convicted of a forgery charge in Spokane, as well as a nine year sentence for grand theft auto and a two year sentence for grand larceny. So what’s so special about this low level criminal? He’s hot.
